New York, New York, September 10, 2012 – 17-year-old Kaleb Langdale, known to friends and family as “Fred”, survived an alligator attack in July while swimming in a popular swimming area in Moore Haven, Florida, but lost his right arm below-the-elbow in the attack. Supported by a team of clinicians from Hanger Clinic including Dan Strzempka from Sarasota, Pete DiPaolo of Fort Myers, and Alistair Gibson and Troy Farnsworth of Hanger Clinic’s Upper Extremity Prosthetics Program, Langdale was fit with the newest version of the bebionic hand. Langdale, his new prosthesis, and Hanger Clinic prosthetic team member Strzempka were featured on ABC’s Good Morning America today. Langdale’s prosthetic arm, customized for the avid outdoorsman with a camouflage water transfer design, was funded in part by Inner Wheel and its program that provides myo-electric prosthetic technology to children under 18-years old.
