The roots of our business stretch across 150 years and assure Hanger’s position as the market leader in the United States. Our national network of 640 patient care centers spans 45 states, and the District of Columbia, which enables us to serve more than 650,000 patients annually. In addition to our primary focus on prosthetic and orthotic services, we also offer products for post-mastectomy care, specialty footwear and durable medical equipment. About 3,500 people are employed with Hanger, including more than 1,000 practitioners.
The resources of a national company, combined with the convenience and personal touch of local patient care centers, has advantages for both patients and the Hanger team that serves them. Those working within patient care centers enjoy the atmosphere of a small business. Decisions about clinical care, hiring and growth are the domain of each practice manager, and compensation programs encourage and reward local business achievements. Each local practice has the support of Hanger’s national expertise and its Quality Assurance Program that guarantees every patient personalized attention throughout their lifetime. At the same time, our large corporate umbrella promises opportunities for career advancement, and even accommodates the relocation needs of eligible employees. It also guarantees our ability to keep investing in the most advanced technologies available to ensure we provide the best care possible for our patients.
In addition to patient care, Hanger is diversified with several other divisions.

The Newington Certificate Program, Hanger's orthotic and prosthetic school, in affiliation with the University of Connecticut, offers a certificate course in orthotics and/or prosthetics. Upon completion of the course, graduates receive a certificate and then go on to complete a residency in their specialty area.
Newington also offers the opportunity to obtain a second discipline in orthotics and prosthetics through distance learning. This allows the employee to remain fully employed and pursue certification in a second discipline from their home.
The Hanger residency program is the largest in the country averaging 70 residents each year with an average retention rate of 90%.
