The Hanger National Orthotics Program was developed to provide
enhanced levels of care that promotes the highest levels of independence and function for patients of all ages and abilities. Braces and supports are a broad and important specialty area that can dramatically improve the quality of life for people with specific musculoskeletal conditions caused by illness, injury or congenital anomaly. Hanger’s National Orthotics Program, led by Deanna Fish, is the largest provider of orthotic patient care services in the United States.
Our orthotic specialists create a range of precise, custom-fit items, from complex bracing systems to foot orthoses, mastectomy products to cranial remolding orthoses. Often the goal is to increase mobility and functional abilities while decreasing rehabilitation time. Orthoses can be especially helpful in preventing an existing problem from getting worse. Treatment protocols encompass pediatrics, adults, neuromuscular pathology, spinal, cranial, spinal cord injury, sports, and upper and lower extremity.
The first of its kind nationally, this innovative orthotics program offers treatment protocols in the following areas:
Designed for children with acute, chronic and severe physical impairments, such as deformational plagiocephaly, spina bifida, cerebral palsy and muscular dystrophy.
Involves musculoskeletal disorders, fractures, cerebrovascular accident, traumatic brain injury, arthritic conditions, diabetic foot care and a variety of other adult diseases and conditions. Also includes preoperative and postoperative orthotics, supports and braces.
Structured to treat patients with multiple sclerosis, post-polio and
hereditary diseases or conditions that affect daily functional abilities.
Focuses on traumatic and degenerative spinal injuries as well as scoliosis. Spinal orthotics encompassed the jaw, neck, back and lower back.
Spinal Cord Injury
Addresses the unique need of the spinal cord injured patient from immediate to long-term care i.e. reciprocating gait orthoses, positioning orthoses and a variety of other high-tech options.
Concentrates on the need of the sports related injured patients: post injury, postoperative, functional and preventative.
