Patient Education Clinics
An Event for Experienced Upper Extremity Prosthetic Users

Our Upper Extremity team incorporates both science and art into their vocation. The material, techniques and insights they use evolve continuously as new technologies are developed. That's why Hanger offers our exclusive Patient Education Clinic at many Hanger patient care centers across the country. As an upper extremity prosthetic user, this exciting event gives you the opportunity to be evaluated by a nationally recognized upper extremity prosthetic specialist.

Patient Education Clinics are free of charge and open to anyone who has a concern or challenge regarding their prosthesis. Many of the people in attendance are prosthetic users who are not currently Hanger patients. However, Hanger patients may also take advantage of this special opportunity to consult with a national expert.

Consult the schedule below to find out when the next Patient Education Clinic is scheduled for your area. Once you have determined the date and location, call the Hanger office to schedule a time for your education.

There are many benefits to attending a Patient Education Clinic including:

• A personal, one-on-one, 30 minute education by a Hanger Socket Specialist

• Expert recommendations on improving the fit, comfort or function of your prosthesis, brace or support

• The chance to meet and share information with other prosthetic users

• Access to information and DVDs on the newest technologies

The Hanger Patient Education Clinic is the event you've been waiting for...

• If it's been a while since your last education by a prosthetist

• If your prosthesis causes you pain or discomfort

• If you feel like maybe you'll never be a successful prosthetic user or that no one has really been able to help you before

   Upper Extremity PEC

A personal note from Carrie Davis

Carrie Davis

My name is Carrie Davis and I have served as a National Upper Extremity Patient Advocate with Hanger Prosthetics for many years.  Ten years ago, I received an invitation to a clinic and it changed my life.  I had no idea about the kinds of upper extremity prosthetic options that were available to me until I attended the clinic.

Through my one-on-one consultation, I learned that my prosthesis could be easily modified to improve suspension, lengthen my battery life and increase my function.  I got to test different terminal devices for both myoelectric devices and cable operated systems and I saw activity specific devices that would allow me to do things that I had never done before - that’s me doing a back bend! I was AMAZED by all that I didn’t know!

The Patient Education Clinic is designed for you and features:

•  A private consultation to review the fit, function and comfort of your prosthesis to ensure it is meeting your needs and allowing you to accomplish your day-to-day tasks with the highest level of satisfaction possible

•  Discussion of the newest prosthetic technology including electric hands with individual motorized fingers, a new electric elbow system and new activity and recreational options

•  An introduction to a new high energy, longer lasting, lithium-ion battery for myoelectric prosthesis wearers.
•  A large display of terminal devices, controllers and upper extremity devices designed to improve your function, cosmetics and comfort

•  New multi-articulating myoelectric hands including the i-LIMB and the new bebionic hand, which offer numerous grasp patterns and increased function

Please take advantage of the Patient Education Clinic to learn about the world of possibilities “in the palm of your hands.” Call today and make your appointment!

Cheers!
Carrie
